RELIGIOUS EDUCATION GOALS "Since the Christian vocation is a call to transform oneself and society with God's help. . ." as well as "a call to proclaim the Good News to the poor, freedom to the oppressed and joy to the afflicted," the catechetical ministry of the church becomes a vital channel through which the "church fulfills its commitment to the dignity of persons and building of community" (From To Teach As Jesus Did and Justice In the World.)

In light of the above statements, St. Nicholas Parish seeks to create and maintain community by:
  • Providing both the conditions and setting for faith commitment and personal growth
  • Proclaiming the message of the Lord Jesus Christ, authentically and fully, growing in awareness of relationship to those who have been reborn in Baptism - to build a Christian community
  • Building a community of loving, trusting and accepting individuals that leads to service

These goals can be achieved when the Parish Family works and prays together.

SPECIAL RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES
The right of the handicapped to receive Religious Education adapted to their special needs also challenges the ingenuity and commitment of the Church" (To Teach As Jesus Did). St. Nicholas parish responds to this call by designing programs to help the individual learn about God and prepare for the reception of the Sacraments. For more information, please contact the Religious Education Office.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
Children in Kindergarten, Grades 1-9 are invited to participate in the parish Religious Education Program. The program is designed to help young members of our parish community individually develop their sense of a loving God. The individual experiences personal growth by becoming aware of loving and caring relationships with friends, family, and catechist, all in a spirit of sharing and praying together.

Parents must become better skilled at helping their children form a foundation of faith which will gradually develop and manifest itself. For this reason, our Program also focuses attention on parents providing children with opportunities to deepen their faith.
